Alliance History

We are uncertain as to when the Cornwall Golfers Alliance came into being but there are records in the Cornish Guardian Office that the Alliance played a match at St Austell Golf Club back in the early 1920s, so we will shortly be celebrating our centenary (although exactly when………)!

The Alliance was formed when a Cornish professional was given permission to invite a few of his professional colleagues to his club to enjoy a round of golf as a token of appreciation. It has grown over the years to its present format culminating in the Alliance Championships at the end of the season. Professionals play for the Scott Brown Trophy and amateurs play for the Halpin Trophy based on points accumulated over the season.  Recent seasons have seen approximately 250 professionals and amateurs supporting the Alliance. We are extremely grateful to all the clubs who host our meetings each year.
